# Modem firmware: out-of-bounds write lets a rogue base station crash the phone

A modem flaw is a missing bounds check that allows an out-of-bounds write. A device that connects to an attacker-controlled rogue base station can be knocked offline remotely, with no user interaction and no extra privileges needed.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## From the sources

In Modem, there is a possible out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check. This could lead to remote denial of service, if a UE has connected to a rogue base station controlled by the attacker, with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: MOLY01750090; Issue ID: MSV-8908.
