# Modem: out-of-bounds write lets a rogue base station escalate privilege

A flaw in the modem firmware lets a phone or device that connects to a rogue base station be hit with an out-of-bounds memory write. Per the description, this can lead to remote escalation of privilege with no user interaction and no extra privileges needed.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## From the sources

In Modem, there is a possible out of bounds write due to improper input validation. This could lead to remote escalation of privilege, if a UE has connected to a rogue base station controlled by the attacker, with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: MOLY01775865; Issue ID: MSV-8895.
