# IBM API Connect: hard-coded credentials give remote attackers full administrative control

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17403 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 ship with hard-coded credentials. A remote attacker who uses them gets full administrative control of the product.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12 fixed 10.0.8.13
- vendor:API Connect affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Find your API Connect version (management, gateway, portal and analytics subsystems all ship in the same release). Affected: 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2. Fixed: 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3. IBM does not say which credentials or which component is involved, so treat any instance in the ranges as exposed and reachable from wherever its admin and API endpoints are reachable.

## Fix

Upgrade to IBM API Connect 12.1.1.3 (12.1.x line) or 10.0.8.13 (10.0.8.x line).

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:46:07+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-17403
- 2026-11-07T05:52:05+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7295635 — IBM CVE record (via OpenCVE) lists fixes 12.1.1.3 and 10.0.8.13 and cites bulletins 7295635 and 7295637; both bulletin pages were truncated before CVE-2026-17403 so I could not see its entry in the bulletin text, hence no fields marked verified. A similar but separate hard-coded-credentials CVE-2026-17360 (9.8) is in the same bulletin. No exploitation or PoC seen; no vendor mitigations/workarounds stated.

- [fix] IBM API Connect v12.1.1.3 is now available https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7290205

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote attacker to gain full administrative control due to the use of hard-coded credentials.
