# IBM API Connect: broken authorization lets logged-in users read sensitive data

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17388 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 fail to check object-level access rights. A remote attacker with a valid account can obtain sensitive information belonging to other objects.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:IBM API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12 fixed 10.0.8.13
- vendor:IBM API Connect affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Check your API Connect version. Exposed if it is 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 or 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 (self-hosted/on-prem). Fixed in 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3. Any authenticated account can reach it, so check who holds accounts on the manager.

## Fix

Upgrade API Connect 10.0.8.x to 10.0.8.13; upgrade 12.1.x to 12.1.1.3 (IBM Fix Central). IBM lists no workaround.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:46:06+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-17388
- 2026-11-07T06:07:07+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-multiple-vulnerabilities-ibm-api-connect-41 — Listed in both IBM bulletins (-41 for 10.0.8.13, -39 for 12.1.1.3), CVSS 8.5, CWE-639, no workaround. 10.0.8 per-CVE text read; 12.1 fix taken from bulletin summary, so only fix is marked verified. Bulletin metadata hints 10.0.8.13 in range, but NVD/OpenCVE say <=12; no exploitation or PoC found.

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information due to broken object-level authorization.
