# IBM API Connect: remote attacker can read arbitrary files on server

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17331 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 lets a remote attacker read arbitrary files on the server because a file name or path is controlled from outside. An attacker can read server files they should not be able to see, such as configuration or credentials.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:API Connect V12 OnPrem affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

- Find the running API Connect V12 on-prem version (admin console or your installation/upgrade records).
- You are affected if it is between v12.1.0.0 and v12.1.1.2 inclusive; v12.1.1.3 or later contains the fix.
- IBM does not say which endpoints are reachable, so also check whether the management or gateway services are reachable from untrusted networks.

## Fix

Upgrade IBM API Connect to v12.1.1.3 (Fix Central: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7290205). IBM lists no workarounds or mitigations.

Affected endpoints not stated by IBM. Not exploited per sources.

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote attacker to read arbitrary files on the server due to external control of a file name or path.
