# IBM API Connect: missing authentication exposes configuration data and unauthorized actions

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17324 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 lack authentication on a critical function. A remote attacker can read sensitive configuration data and perform unauthorized actions.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:IBM API Connect affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Check the installed API Connect version. Versions 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 are affected; v12.1.1.3 is the fixed release. Also check which API Connect components (management, gateway, portal) are reachable from untrusted networks. IBM's text does not name the affected endpoint.

## Fix

Upgrade IBM API Connect to v12.1.1.3 (Fix Central; release page https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7290205)

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:46:03+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-17324
- 2026-11-07T06:17:39+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-multiple-vulnerabilities-ibm-api-connect-39 — IBM's fix is v12.1.1.3 per OpenCVE quoting IBM's vendor solution (node/7290205, the v12.1.1.3 release page). The IBM bulletin -39 fetched truncated, so I could not see CVE-2026-17324 on it. Fix is not marked verified. No workaround or endpoint list found. No exploitation or PoC found.

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote attacker to access sensitive configuration data and perform unauthorized actions due to missing authentication for a critical function.
