# IBM API Connect: authenticated users can take over other organizations' ownership

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17292 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 fail to check access on organization objects properly. A logged-in user can change the ownership of organizations they do not control.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:IBM API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12 fixed 10.0.8.13
- vendor:IBM API Connect V12 affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

- Check the installed API Connect version. Affected: 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 (on-prem V12). Fixed: 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3.
- The flaw needs a valid login. Check who can sign in and whether the API Connect management endpoints are exposed to untrusted networks.

## Fix

Upgrade IBM API Connect 10.0.8.x to 10.0.8.13, or 12.1.x to 12.1.1.3 (download via IBM Fix Central). IBM lists no workarounds.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:58:24+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-multiple-vulnerabilities-ibm-api-connect-41 — Found in two IBM bulletins (ibm-api-connect-41 for 10.0.8.x, -39 for 12.1.x): CWE-639 BOLA on organization objects, authenticated remote attacker, CVSS 9.1. Fixed 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3; IBM lists no workarounds. Bulletin does not say if reachable outside the management interface; no exploitation or PoC seen (X not searched).

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to take over ownership of other organizations due to broken object-level authorization. Access checks on organization objects are incomplete, which could allow ownership of organizations the user does not control to be changed.
