# IBM API Connect: authenticated requests can stall service into denial of service

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17279 (this .md is for agents)

Certain requests to IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 can stall internal processing from uncontrolled resource consumption. A remote attacker with valid credentials can make the service unavailable.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12 fixed 10.0.8.13
- vendor:API Connect V12 OnPrem affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Check your installed API Connect version. Affected: 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12, and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 (IBM lists V12 OnPrem). Fixed: 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3. Higher risk if untrusted users can hold valid accounts.

## Fix

Upgrade to IBM API Connect 10.0.8.13 (10.0.8 line) or v12.1.1.3 (12.1 line). No workaround from IBM.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:46:01+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-17279
- 2026-11-07T06:23:06+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-multiple-vulnerabilities-ibm-api-connect-41 — Read both IBM bulletins: 10.0.8.x fixed in 10.0.8.13 (bulletin -41), 12.1.x OnPrem fixed in 12.1.1.3 (bulletin -39); both say workarounds: None. 12.1 tail read directly; 10.0.8 table came via WebFetch summary (bulletin metadata says 10.0.8.0-10.0.8.13, table 10.0.8.0-10.0.8.12). No exploitation or PoC found (X not searched; low-profile authenticated DoS).

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to cause a denial of service due to uncontrolled resource consumption. Certain requests can cause internal processing to stall, which could make the service unavailable.
