# IBM API Connect: stored XSS in provider-supplied HTML runs scripts

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-17190 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 do not sanitize HTML supplied by a provider before displaying it. An authenticated attacker can get script to run in another user's browser.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12; >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 10.0.8.13, 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Check your API Connect version. Affected: 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12, and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2. Fixed: 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3.

## Fix

Upgrade to API Connect 10.0.8.13 (10.0.8 line) or 12.1.1.3 (12.1 line) via IBM Fix Central. IBM lists no workaround.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:46:00+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-17190
- 2026-11-07T06:24:02+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/security-bulletin-multiple-vulnerabilities-ibm-api-connect-41 — IBM bulletins (-41 for 10.0.8.13, -39 for 12.1.1.3) list CVE-2026-17190 (CWE-79, 8.7). Fixes: 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3. Read the 10.0.8 table in full; the 12.1 bulletin was cut off, so I got its fix only from its summary line. No workaround listed. The specific HTML fields are not named by IBM. No exploitation or PoC found.

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript due to cross-site scripting. HTML content supplied by a provider is not sufficiently sanitized before it is displayed, which could allow script content to run in the user's browser.
