# IBM API Connect: authenticated users can read other tenants' data

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-16712 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 do not check request identifiers against the caller's permissions. A logged-in attacker can read sensitive information belonging to other tenants.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:API Connect affected >= 10.0.8.0, <= 10.0.8.12 fixed 10.0.8.13
- vendor:API Connect V12 OnPrem affected >= 12.1.0.0, <= 12.1.1.2 fixed 12.1.1.3

## How to check

Check your API Connect version. Affected: V10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12, and V12 OnPrem 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2. Fixed in 10.0.8.13 and 12.1.1.3. IBM's V12 bulletin names the V12 OnPrem product; also check any other V12 deployment type you run.

## Fix

Upgrade API Connect 12.1.x to 12.1.1.3 (Fix Central: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7290205) or 10.0.8.x to 10.0.8.13. IBM lists no workarounds or mitigations.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:45:57+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-16712
- 2026-11-07T06:27:33+00:00 analyst https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7295635 — Read both IBM bulletins (nodes 7295635 for V12, 7295637 for V10) via the CVE's references. Fix 12.1.1.3 / 10.0.8.13, no workarounds. IBM does not say whether single-tenant installs are affected; removed that not-affected tag. No exploitation or PoC found; did not search social.

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 10.0.8.0 through 10.0.8.12 and 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information from other tenants due to improper authorization. Identifiers supplied in requests are not sufficiently checked against the user's permissions, which could allow access to data belonging to other tenants.
