# IBM API Connect: path traversal lets remote attackers read arbitrary server files

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-16679 (this .md is for agents)

IBM API Connect versions 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 contain a path traversal flaw triggered by a specially crafted URL request. An remote attacker can use it to view files outside the intended directory on the server.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed IBM API Connect version against the affected range `12.1.0.0` through `12.1.1.2`

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T05:45:57+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-16679

## From the sources

IBM API Connect 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.1.2 could allow a remote attacker to view arbitrary files on the system due to a path traversal vulnerability. A specially crafted URL request could allow directories outside the intended location to be accessed.
