# WCFM Membership WordPress plugin: free paid membership grants vendor role

The WCFM Membership WordPress plugin before 2.12.1 does not check that payment was made before completing a paid membership. Any logged-in Subscriber or Customer can activate a paid vendor membership for free and gain the marketplace vendor role.
