# DataEase: chart data handler lets remote users inject SQL

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-123990 (this .md is for agents)

DataEase, an open-source BI and data visualization platform, builds SQL from the operator argument in its chart data handler without sanitizing it. A remote attacker can inject SQL to read or change data in the connected database.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the DataEase version in the deployed release: versions up to `2.10.27` and `3.1.0` are affected.
- Look for `engine/trans/ExtWhere2Str.java` in the source tree of a self-built deployment.

## Fix

- Upgrade DataEase to `3.2.0` or later.

## Documents

- [fix] Release notes: github.com https://github.com/dataease/dataease/releases/tag/v3.2.0

## From the sources

A security vulnerability has been detected in DataEase up to 2.10.27/3.1.0. Affected is the function ExtWhere2Str.extWhere2sqlOjb of the file engine/trans/ExtWhere2Str.java of the component Chart Data Handler. Such manipulation of the argument operator leads to sql injection. The attack may be performed from remote. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. Upgrading to version 3.2.0 is able to address this issue. Upgrading the affected component is advised. The vendor confirms: "The fix validates the complete compound operator and uses fixed AND / OR keywords instead of concatenating user-controlled logic into SQL."
