# grok2api: WebSocket voice proxy flaw lets remote attackers exhaust resources

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-123748 (this .md is for agents)

grok2api is a proxy that exposes Grok model access through an API. A flaw in its WebSocket voice proxy handler lets a remote caller consume server resources, which can slow or disrupt the service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed grok2api version; versions up to and including `3.1.6` are affected.
- Look at the WebSocket proxy in `backend/internal/transport/http/inference/voice_ws_handler.go` (function `proxyVoiceWebSocket`).

## Fix

- grok2api: upgrade to `3.1.7` (patch commit 7ad0f791f0a9eb5a0ddfe38ac4dfcef01e19a6d4).

- [fix] Release notes: github.com https://github.com/chenyme/grok2api/releases/tag/v3.1.7

## From the sources

A security flaw has been discovered in chenyme grok2api up to 3.1.6. Affected by this vulnerability is the function proxyVoiceWebSocket of the file backend/internal/transport/http/inference/voice_ws_handler.go of the component WebSocket Proxy. The manipulation results in resource consumption. The attack may be launched remotely. Upgrading to version 3.1.7 addresses this issue. The patch is identified as 7ad0f791f0a9eb5a0ddfe38ac4dfcef01e19a6d4. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component.
