# OpenAM: weak response validation on server SOAP channel allows tampering and crashes

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-123544 (this .md is for agents)

OpenAM before 16.1.4 and its client SDK do not properly validate responses on the internal server-to-server SOAP channel. An attacker positioned on the network who intercepts unencrypted traffic or controls a site server can crash receiving processes, tamper with writable files, and possibly execute code.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Identify OpenAM installations and their version, for example from the admin console or the installed package version, and compare against `16.1.4`
- Check whether the internal SOAP channel between OpenAM servers and site servers runs unencrypted

## Fix

- OpenAM: move to `16.1.4` or later
- Client SDK: unknown for the fixed version

## From the sources

OpenAM before 16.1.4 and its client SDK fail to sufficiently validate responses on the internal server-to-server SOAP channel, allowing network-positioned attackers to affect integrity and availability. Attackers who intercept unencrypted traffic or control a site server can crash receiving processes, tamper with writable files, and possibly execute code.
