# Meelo: non-admin users can alter shared music catalog data

Meelo, a self-hosted music server, has a missing authorization check on its song, track and video write routes. A logged-in user without admin rights can change genres, move tracks between songs and merge songs, altering catalog data for everyone.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Meelo version running on the server against the affected range (through `3.13.1`)
- Confirm whether non-admin accounts exist on the instance

## Timeline

- 2026-11-05T16:40:02+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-122327

## Documents

- [advisory] Third-party advisory: www.vulncheck.com https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/meelo-through-3.13.1-missing-authorization-on-song-track-and-video-endpoints

## From the sources

Meelo through 3.13.1 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows authenticated non-admin users to modify shared catalog data because RolesGuard does not require Admin on song, track and video write routes. Attackers can send PUT requests to /songs/:idOrSlug, /tracks/:idOrSlug or /videos/:idOrSlug, or POST to /songs/:idOrSlug/merge, to alter genres, reassign tracks and merge songs.
