# Presenton: user config endpoint allows cross-site request forgery

Presenton, an open-source presentation generator, has a flaw in its /api/user-config endpoint that lets a cross-site request forgery change user settings. An attacker can trigger the request remotely by tricking a logged-in user into visiting a malicious page.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Presenton version against `0.9.11-beta`; versions up to and including it are affected.
- Look for the `/api/user-config` endpoint in your deployment.

## Fix

- Upgrade Presenton to `0.9.12-beta`.

- [fix] Release notes: github.com https://github.com/presenton/presenton/releases/tag/v0.9.12-beta

## From the sources

A security vulnerability has been detected in Presenton up to 0.9.11-beta. Impacted is the function JSON.parse of the file /api/user-config of the component User Configuration Handler. Such manipulation leads to cross-site request forgery. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. Upgrading to version 0.9.12-beta is recommended to address this issue. The name of the patch is 44c8a61122b21f17642d717b0c4d6f2c54c0f180. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.
