# Yealink devices: default 8-digit Wi-Fi key lets attackers brute-force network access

Certain Yealink products ship with a default 8-digit numeric pre-shared key for their Wi-Fi access point mode, which is too weak to resist brute-force guessing. An attacker who guesses it can join the network and intercept Wi-Fi traffic.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the Wi-Fi AP function is enabled on each Yealink device.
- Check whether the Wi-Fi pre-shared key is still the default 8-digit numeric value; the affected product models and firmware are unknown from the sources.
- Confirm the device firmware date against `2026-04-15`.

## Fix

- Products before 2026-04-15 are affected; the fixed firmware version is unknown from the sources.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-04T18:28:34+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-122118

## From the sources

In certain Yealink products before 2026-04-15, when the Wi-Fi AP function is enabled, a default 8-digit numeric PSK with insufficient strength is used. Attackers can exploit this weakness via brute-force attacks to gain unauthorized network access and intercept Wi-Fi traffic.
