# Chrome: uninitialized image resource leaks cross-origin data from crafted pages

A flaw in how Google Chrome's Images component handles memory lets a crafted HTML page read cross-origin data. An attacker who gets a victim to open that page can obtain data from other sites the victim uses.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in Chrome's About page (chrome://settings/help) or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux.

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to a version at or after `157.0.8103.38`.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-03T21:19:26+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-121213

## From the sources

Uninitialized resource in Images in Google Chrome prior to 157.0.8103.38 allowed a remote attacker to obtain cross-origin data via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
