# Chrome: WebGL uninitialized memory lets a crafted web page read memory

Google Chrome's WebGL code uses a resource before it is initialized, so a crafted HTML page can read memory outside the browser sandbox. Chromium rates it High severity.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open the Chrome menu, go to Help, then About Google Chrome, and read the version number
- Compare it with `157.0.8103.38`; anything lower is affected

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to `157.0.8103.38` or later

## Timeline

- 2026-11-03T21:19:24+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-121173

## From the sources

Uninitialized resource in WebGL in Google Chrome prior to 157.0.8103.38 allowed a remote attacker to read memory outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
