# Chrome on Mac: image handling flaw lets a compromised renderer escape sandbox

Google Chrome on Mac prior to 157.0.8103.38 has an incorrect reference resolution bug in its Images component. A remote attacker who has already compromised the renderer process can run arbitrary code outside the sandbox using crafted network traffic.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in Chrome's About page (Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome) and compare it to `157.0.8103.38`.

## Fix

- Google Chrome on Mac: move to `157.0.8103.38` or later.

## Timeline
