# Chrome: crafted SVG page can crash or misbehave through recursion

Google Chrome before 157.0.8103.38 has an uncontrolled recursion bug in its SVG handling. A crafted HTML page could let a remote attacker potentially run code inside the browser sandbox, and Chromium rates it Low severity.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in Chrome's About page (chrome://settings/help) or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux
- On managed fleets, query the Chrome version reported by your device management tool and compare against `157.0.8103.38`

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to `157.0.8103.38` or later

## Timeline

## From the sources

Uncontrolled recursion in SVG in Google Chrome prior to 157.0.8103.38 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Low)
