# Chrome: WebXR use-after-free lets a crafted page run code outside the sandbox

A memory-handling bug in WebXR in Google Chrome before 157.0.8103.38 lets a remote attacker run arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox. The attack needs a victim to visit a crafted HTML page, typically through social engineering.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open Chrome and check the version under Settings > About Chrome, or run `chrome://version` in the address bar.
- Confirm the installed version is at least `157.0.8103.38`.

## Fix

- Google Chrome: update to `157.0.8103.38` or later.

## Timeline

## From the sources

Use after free in WebXR in Google Chrome prior to 157.0.8103.38 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
