# Chrome: crafted web page can bypass site isolation protections

Google Chrome's ORB (Opaque Response Blocking) component has an incorrect authorization check that lets a crafted HTML page bypass site isolation. An attacker who gets a victim to visit that page could read data from other sites the victim is logged into.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in Chrome's About page (chrome://settings/help) or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux.
- Flag any installation below `157.0.8103.38` as affected.

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to `157.0.8103.38` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-03T21:19:08+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-121029

## From the sources

Incorrect authorization in ORB in Google Chrome prior to 157.0.8103.38 allowed a remote attacker to bypass site isolation via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Low)
