# phpMyAdmin: table names with HTML run script in other users' sessions

phpMyAdmin through 5.2.3 does not escape table names when showing Designer query history, so a database user who can create tables can plant script in a name. When another user adds a condition on that table in Designer query mode, the script runs in their session.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed phpMyAdmin version, for example by opening the phpMyAdmin footer or reading `libraries/classes/Version.php` in the install directory.
- Confirm whether untrusted users hold the CREATE privilege on any database that phpMyAdmin manages.

## Fix

- phpMyAdmin: versions after `5.2.3` (the sources do not name the fixed release).

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T12:30:26+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-119563

## From the sources

phpMyAdmin through 5.2.3 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows database users with CREATE privilege to inject script via unescaped table names in DesignerHistory.display(). Attackers can create a table whose name contains HTML markup that executes in another user's session when they add a condition on it in Designer query mode.
