# Chrome: use-after-free in Blink lets a crafted web page run code

A use-after-free bug in Blink, the rendering engine inside Google Chrome, can be triggered by a crafted HTML page. A remote attacker who gets a victim to load that page can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in the browser's About page or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux.
- Compare it with the fixed version below; anything older is exposed.

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to `156.0.8078.79` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T01:27:58+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-119269

## From the sources

Use after free in Blink in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.79 allowed a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
