# Google Chrome: use-after-free in Quota lets a web page run code

A memory-handling bug in the Quota component of Google Chrome, before 156.0.8078.79, lets a crafted HTML page trigger a use-after-free. A remote attacker could potentially execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in Chrome's About page or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux.
- Compare the result against `156.0.8078.79`.

## Fix

- Google Chrome: move to `156.0.8078.79` or later.

## Timeline

## From the sources

Use after free in Quota in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.79 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
