# JetBrains Toolbox and IntelliJ IDEA: daemon trusts compromised intermediate certificates

The jetbrainsd daemon in JetBrains Toolbox App and IntelliJ IDEA accepted compromised intermediate certificates as trusted. An attacker holding such a certificate could impersonate JetBrains update or service endpoints and deliver malicious content to the machine.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Toolbox App version against `3.9.1` and `3.8.2`.
- Check the installed IntelliJ IDEA version against `2026.3` and `2026.2.4`.

## Fix

- JetBrains Toolbox App: move to `3.9.1` or `3.8.2`.
- IntelliJ IDEA: move to `2026.3` or `2026.2.4`.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T18:55:29+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118697

## From the sources

In JetBrains Toolbox App before 3.9.1 and 3.8.2; IntelliJ IDEA before 2026.3 and 2026.2.4, the jetbrainsd daemon trusted compromised intermediate certificates
