# SiYuan: Windows path alias bypass copies API token and TLS key publicly

SiYuan 3.8.7 through 3.8.8 does not normalize Windows GLOBALROOT device-namespace paths, so its sensitive-path denylist can be bypassed. An attacker who can call importStdMd can copy the API token and TLS private key into the publicly served assets directory.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed SiYuan version in the app's About dialog or package metadata: `3.8.7` through `3.8.8` are affected.
- On Windows hosts, look for a copy of the API token or TLS private key under the SiYuan assets directory.

## Fix

- Upgrade SiYuan to a version later than `3.8.8` (fixed version unknown from the sources).
- Rotate the SiYuan API token and TLS private key if the host ran an affected version and was reachable.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-28T19:34:55+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118680

## From the sources

SiYuan 3.8.7 through 3.8.8 fails to normalize Windows GLOBALROOT device-namespace aliases, bypassing the IsSensitivePath denylist. Attackers can invoke importStdMd with a GLOBALROOT-prefixed path to copy the API token and TLS private key into the publicly served assets directory.
