# n8n: webhook error responses omit CSP, enabling stored cross-site scripting

n8n webhook response paths such as error responses and responses without headers omit the sandbox Content-Security-Policy. An authenticated workflow creator can serve HTML that runs script on the n8n origin and act with the session of anyone who opens the webhook URL.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `n8n --version` (or check the container image tag) and compare against `1.123.85`, `2.43.5` and `2.44.1`
- Check whether your n8n instance exposes webhook URLs to users who are logged into the n8n UI

## Fix

- Upgrade n8n 1.x to `1.123.85` or later
- Upgrade n8n 2.x to `2.43.5` or later, and 2.44.x to `2.44.1` or later

## Timeline

- 2026-10-28T19:34:55+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118648

## From the sources

n8n before 1.123.85, 2.x before 2.43.5, and 2.44.x before 2.44.1 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability because some webhook response paths, such as error responses and responses without headers, omit the sandbox Content-Security-Policy. Authenticated members who can create and activate workflows can serve HTML that runs on the n8n origin, letting scripts act with the session of users who open the webhook URL.
