# WordPress Simple Download Monitor plugin leaks titles of private posts

The Simple Download Monitor WordPress plugin before 4.1.3 fails to check visibility of content referenced by one of its shortcodes. A logged-in user with a Contributor role can read the title and description of private, draft and other non-public posts.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the Simple Download Monitor plugin in the WordPress admin plugins list; versions before `4.1.3` are affected.
- Confirm whether Contributor or higher accounts exist on the site that are not fully trusted.

## Fix

- Simple Download Monitor: `4.1.3` or later (per the advisory's 'before 4.1.3' range).

## Timeline

- 2026-11-04T06:25:19+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118637

## From the sources

The Simple Download Monitor WordPress plugin before 4.1.3 does not properly check the visibility of the content referenced by one of its shortcodes, allowing users with a role as low as Contributor to disclose the title and description of private, draft and other non-public posts.
