# WordPress GeoDirectory plugin lets anonymous visitors run arbitrary shortcodes

The GeoDirectory WordPress plugin passes an unvalidated value to do_shortcode, so a request can trigger any registered shortcode. An unauthenticated attacker can run arbitrary shortcodes on the site.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed GeoDirectory plugin version in the WordPress admin under Plugins; versions up to and including `2.8.198` are listed as affected.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T18:55:29+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118635

## From the sources

The The GeoDirectory – WP Business Directory Plugin and Classified Listings Directory plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary shortcode execution in all versions up to, and including, 2.8.198 This is due to the software allowing users to execute an action that does not properly validate a value before running do_shortcode. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary shortcodes.
