Go to dashboardA stack-based buffer overflow in the Bluetooth SDP service search decoder of the Alpine iLX-F511 head unit lets a nearby attacker who can pair a malicious Bluetooth device overwrite memory. The attacker can execute arbitrary code as root on the device.

Alpine iLX-F511 prh_sdp_service_search_decode Stack-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Alpine iLX-F511 devices. An attacker must first obtain the ability to pair a malicious Bluetooth device with the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the prh_sdp_service_search_decode function. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-29069.
