# a2ui: unvalidated url argument in Image/Video/Audio player component

The a2ui library up to version 0.10.4 does not properly validate the url argument in its Image, Player, Video Player and Audio Player component (src/v0_9/basic_catalog/components/Image.js). An attacker can supply a crafted url value remotely, and the sources do not say what the resulting impact is beyond improper input validation.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed a2ui version with `npm ls a2ui` or in package.json, and treat anything at or below `0.10.4` as affected.
- Look for the v0_9 basic_catalog Image component in your bundle or source (src/v0_9/basic_catalog/components/Image.js).

## Fix

- No fixed version is stated in the sources; a pull request to fix the issue was awaiting acceptance at the time of the report, so unknown.
- Until a fixed release exists, validate or allowlist the url values passed to the Image, Video or Audio player components on your side.

## Timeline

## From the sources

A vulnerability was found in a2ui up to 0.10.4. This vulnerability affects unknown code of the file src/v0_9/basic_catalog/components/Image.js of the component Image Player/Video Player/Audio Player. Performing a manipulation of the argument url results in improper input validation. The attack may be initiated remotely. The pull request to fix this issue awaits acceptance.
