# Chrome: WebAudio memory corruption lets a crafted page run code in sandbox

A memory corruption bug in the WebAudio component of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 can be triggered by a crafted HTML page. An attacker who lures a user to that page can execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `chrome://version` in Chrome and compare the version with `156.0.8078.73`
- Check Chromium-based browsers and embedded Chromium builds the same way, since they ship their own version numbers

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Update other Chromium-based browsers and embedded Chromium builds to the vendor release that includes this fix

## Timeline

- 2026-10-27T23:29:44+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118358

## From the sources

Memory corruption in WebAudio in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
