# Chrome: memory corruption in Cache lets a crafted page run code

Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 has a memory corruption bug in its Cache component. A remote attacker who gets a user to open a crafted HTML page could execute arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open Chrome, go to `chrome://settings/help` and read the installed version; anything below `156.0.8078.73` is affected.
- On managed fleets, query the Chrome version reported by your endpoint management tool.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later, then relaunch the browser.
