# Chrome: memory corruption in Payments lets a crafted page run code

A memory corruption bug in the Payments component of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 lets a remote attacker run arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attacker only needs the victim to load a crafted HTML page.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open chrome://version in Chrome and read the version number
- Compare the version against `156.0.8078.73`; anything lower is affected

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the new version is running
