# Chrome: use-after-free in FileSystem lets a web page run code

A use-after-free bug in the FileSystem component of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 lets a remote attacker run arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. The attack is triggered by a crafted HTML page the user opens.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open Chrome and check the version under Settings > About Chrome, or run `google-chrome --version` on Linux.
- Confirm whether the version is below `156.0.8078.73`.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later.
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the fix takes effect.
