# Chrome on Mac: crafted HTML page can run code inside sandbox

Improper input validation in Chrome's Metrics component on macOS lets a remote attacker run code inside the browser sandbox via a crafted HTML page. The sources say the Chromium security severity is High and do not describe a sandbox escape.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `chrome://version` in Chrome on Mac and compare the version with the fixed release, `156.0.8078.73`
- Check the installed app version with `/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print :CFBundleShortVersionString" "/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Info.plist"`

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome on Mac to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the fixed build is running

## Timeline

## From the sources

Improper input validation in Metrics in Google Chrome on on Mac prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
