# Chrome: ANGLE memory corruption lets a crafted page read sandbox memory

A memory corruption bug in ANGLE, the graphics translation layer in Google Chrome, lets a remote attacker read memory inside the browser sandbox. The attack is triggered by a crafted HTML page that the victim opens.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `chrome://version` and confirm the version is at or above `156.0.8078.73`
- On managed fleets, query the installed Chrome version with the package manager or MDM inventory

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Make sure Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera) that bundle ANGLE are also updated to a build that includes this fix

## Timeline

## From the sources

Memory corruption in ANGLE in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially read memory inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
