# Chrome: Skia memory corruption lets a crafted web page read sandbox memory

A memory corruption bug in Skia, the graphics library inside Google Chrome, lets a remote attacker read memory inside the browser sandbox when a victim opens a crafted HTML page. Chromium rates it High severity.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version at chrome://settings/help or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux
- Look for Chrome builds on managed machines that are older than `156.0.8078.73`

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Apply the same update to any Chromium-based browser that embeds Skia from an older build, unknown which vendors have shipped it

## From the sources

Memory corruption in Skia in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially read memory inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
