# Google Chrome: HTML memory corruption lets a crafted page run code

A memory corruption bug in Chrome's HTML handling, fixed in version 156.0.8078.73, lets a remote attacker run arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox through a crafted web page. Chromium rates it High severity, and the sandbox limits what the attacker gets beyond the browser process.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Chrome version in the browser's About page or with `google-chrome --version` on Linux.
- Confirm whether any Chromium-based browser on managed machines reports a version below `156.0.8078.73`.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later.
- Restart the browser after the update so the fixed build is running.
