# Google Chrome: SVG use-after-free lets a crafted web page run code

A use-after-free bug in the SVG code of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 can be triggered by a crafted HTML page. A remote attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `chrome://version` in Chrome and compare the version with `156.0.8078.73`
- On managed fleets, query the installed Chrome version with your endpoint management tool

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the new version is running

## Timeline

## From the sources

Use after free in SVG in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
