# Google Chrome: memory corruption in FileSystem lets a web page run code

A memory corruption flaw in the FileSystem component of Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 can be triggered by a crafted HTML page. An attacker who lures a user to that page could execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open Chrome and check the version under Settings > About Chrome, or run `google-chrome --version` on Linux
- Confirm the installed version is below `156.0.8078.73`

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the fixed build is running

## From the sources

Memory corruption in FileSystem in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical)
