# Chrome: crafted SVG input lets a web page run code in sandbox

Google Chrome before 156.0.8078.73 mishandles input validation in its SVG code, so a crafted HTML page can make a remote attacker run arbitrary code inside the browser sandbox. Chromium rates the flaw High severity.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Open chrome://version in the browser and read the version; it should be `156.0.8078.73` or later.
- Run `google-chrome --version` on Linux or check the installed version on managed fleets.

## Fix

- Update Google Chrome to `156.0.8078.73` or later.
- Relaunch the browser after the update so the new version takes effect.

## From the sources

Improper input validation in SVG in Google Chrome prior to 156.0.8078.73 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)
