# WordPress BuddyForms plugin lets low-privilege users overwrite others' posts

The BuddyForms WordPress plugin before 2.10.1 does not check that a user editing an existing form entry is its author. A user with edit access to a form, as low as Subscriber, can overwrite the title, content and status of any other user's posts or pages, including administrators'.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed BuddyForms plugin version in the WordPress admin under Plugins; versions below `2.10.1` are affected.
- Confirm whether any form grants edit access to low-privilege roles such as Subscriber.

## Fix

- BuddyForms: upgrade to `2.10.1` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-30T06:28:39+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-118101

## From the sources

The BuddyForms WordPress plugin before 2.10.1 does not verify that a user editing an existing entry is the author of the target post, allowing users who have been granted edit access to a form, as low as Subscriber, to overwrite the title, content and status of any other user's posts or pages, including those of administrators.
