{"id":"CVE-2026-116755","kind":"vulnerability","aliases":["CVE-2026-116755"],"related":[],"title":"SoftIron HyperCloud: authenticated users can run OS commands on hypervisor hosts","description":"Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in a Command ('Command Injection') in the Orchestrator component of SoftIron HyperCloud allows an authenticated user with access to the management plane to execute arbitrary operating system commands on hypervisor hosts as the privileged orchestration user. Attacker-controlled virtual machine template content (for example, the VM DESCRIPTION field) is delivered to hosts through a shell here-document whose terminator is not quoted, so shell expansion and here-document terminator injection are performed on that content during virtual machine lifecycle operations such as deploy, migrate, and network setup. Exploitation requires valid credentials, access to the management plane (owning a virtual machine alone is not sufficient), and a lifecycle operation that reaches the affected host. This issue affects the Orchestrator component of SoftIron HyperCloud from 1.0 through 2.6.17 and is fixed in 2.6.18.","summary":"The Orchestrator component of SoftIron HyperCloud passes VM template content, such as the description field, into a shell here-document without quoting the terminator, so injected shell syntax is executed. An attacker with valid management-plane credentials can run arbitrary commands as the privileged orchestration user on hypervisor hosts during deploy, migrate, or network setup.","severity":"high","cvss":7.4,"epss":null,"exploited":false,"exploited_at":null,"products":[],"ecosystems":[],"tags":["hypercloud","hypervisor","infrastructure","softiron","virtualization"],"not_affected_if":["no-management-plane-access-for-untrusted-users","version-2.6.18-or-later"],"how_to_check":"- Check the installed HyperCloud Orchestrator version against the affected range 1.0 through 2.6.17\n- Confirm whether any user accounts have access to the management plane who should not\n- Review the exact version shown in the HyperCloud management interface or release notes; exact commands unknown","fix":"- SoftIron HyperCloud Orchestrator: upgrade to `2.6.18`","status":"open","published_at":"2026-10-31T02:17:33+00:00","first_seen_at":"2026-10-31T02:32:58+00:00","triaged_at":"2026-10-31T02:34:30+00:00","updated_at":"2026-10-31T02:34:30+00:00","category":"infrastructure","confidence":0.8,"triage":{"at":"2026-10-31T02:34:30Z","model":"claude-haiku-5-5","output":{"fix":"- SoftIron HyperCloud Orchestrator: upgrade to `2.6.18`","reach":"network","title":"SoftIron HyperCloud: authenticated users can run OS commands on hypervisor hosts","impact":"high","summary":"The Orchestrator component of SoftIron HyperCloud passes VM template content, such as the description field, into a shell here-document without quoting the terminator, so injected shell syntax is executed.
