# VikRentCar WordPress plugin: blind SQL injection via catid parameter

The VikRentCar Car Rental Management System plugin for WordPress, versions up to and including 1.4.10, passes the catid parameter into a SQL query without proper escaping or prepared statements. An authenticated attacker with Contributor-level access can append SQL to the existing query and extract sensitive data from the site's database.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed VikRentCar plugin version in the WordPress admin plugin list or with `wp plugin get vikrentcar --field=version`
- unknown for other checks

## Fix

- Update the VikRentCar plugin to a version later than `1.4.10`
- unknown for a fixed version number, as the sources do not say

## Timeline

- 2026-10-28T07:31:38+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-116750

## From the sources

The VikRentCar Car Rental Management System plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to blind SQL Injection via the 'catid' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.10 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. A Contributor-level user can store a malicious block via the REST API in a pending post and trigger server-side rendering by previewing that post, bypassing wp_magic_quotes since the attribute is sourced from post_content via parse_blocks rather than a superglobal.
