# Furnace tracker: crafted FamiTracker module corrupts memory, crashes on open

Furnace through 0.6.8.3 writes past a heap buffer in DivEngine::loadFTM() when a FamiTracker module declares two or more subsongs. Opening a crafted module corrupts heap memory and crashes the application.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Furnace version and compare it with the affected range, 0.6.8.3 and earlier.

## Fix

- unknown

## From the sources

Furnace through 0.6.8.3 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in DivEngine::loadFTM() that allows attackers to corrupt heap memory via an unchecked subsong index in the GROOVES block. Attackers can craft a FamiTracker module with a subsong count of 2 or more to write a groove pattern past the subsong vector, crashing Furnace when opened.
