# benotes: bookmark metadata endpoint allows server-side request forgery

The getUrlInfo function in benotes (up to 2.8.1) fetches a URL supplied by the user without restricting the target. A remote attacker can make the server send requests to internal addresses on its behalf.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed benotes version; versions up to and including `2.8.1` are affected.
- Look in `app/Http/Controllers/PostController.php` for the `getUrlInfo` function and whether it validates the `url` argument.

## Timeline
